    • Back home from a long drive home from Holland after a brilliant week away, first to shoot the Classic Steel Challenge, which was a FANTASTIC event enjoyed by all, and already booked on for next years event.
Great shooting from both Florian and Amy, with Amy ending runner up in ladies class and €1500 better off for the weekend!
Rest of the week was jam packed with coaching at De Wildenberg which was a great experience, customers from Holland, Belgium and Germany throughout the week enjoying some great weather, fantastic targets and hospitality, and learning a few bits too 😉
The whole team worked very hard and it was a great venue to work in for a change of scenery, already looking at planning the return trip, possibly two by the look of the emails already!
Back in the U.K. for a couple weeks before off to France with Hull Cartridges and Magic Safari Lodges next!
Thanks to everyone for making me so welcome and looking after me, the support is much appreciated. Some pics below from when I had a chance, the really nice ones were sent to me from the last group of the week (thanks Danni!) put my ones to shame. A few videos went up on Instagram too, will possibly upload at a later date.

    • Back from a great few days in Sweden coaching for the first, but not the last time! Fantastic time very well organised, superb people and a great training facility in the south of the country (so not too cold). A little over an hour from Gothenburg Landvetter airport and with some lovely hotels and food available was a nice change of scenery.
Already planning next years trip and getting all 12 guys over to the U.K. to see how we do it.
Thanks to Esa and family for the hospitality and excellent organisational work.
Back in the U.K. now and today was coaching in nothing more than a t shirt- life is good!

    • Nice couple of days with shooters over from Germany this weekend at Sporting Targets and Kibworth, even stayed dry for most of it!
Back to back day sessions are great to go over the basic system and then to fine tune whilst giving the shooters time to let it all sink in in-between days.
Thomas and Corrine made fantastic progress and I look forward to seeing you guys again in the not too distant.
Another couple of days staying local then down to have a shot in the finals of the Churchill Challenge on Wednesday which I’m looking forward to, then a couple more local sessions before off to Sweden for a couple of days work with some Krieghoff shooters and back to start coaching in the U.K. on the 18th!

    • Quick update from my couple of days in Germany for IWA 2018 with Krieghoff Hull and Laporte.
First off was the Krieghoff booth to see the new logo unveiled and to see the gun of the year commissioned by Alamo as well as catching up with overseas students and friends followed by the Krieghoff dinner which was a great end to Friday night, with friends from all over the world.
A couple of flying visits to Hull cartridge to catch up with Roberto and Mr B as well as Laurent from Magic Safaris enabled me to tick off the few bits of admin with them and make my way over to the Laporte stand to spend some time with the crew, including the Laporte family themselves, Guy Fred and some new faces to learn more about the new 18 stack trap as well as put a couple of queries answered for some German customers I had bought over to the stand.
Talked through a few ideas with things to do going forward with Guy and hope to have some stuff in the pipeline that should be pretty fun 🙂
Left late last night so spent most of today catching up with missed emails and bookings over the trip so apologies if I’ve been slow getting back to you but I am working on it!!

    • Well yesterday was the time of year where the team gets together and has a chance to catch up, have a shot, a bit of a play and make it out for the evening as a thank you for all the hard work and good results of the year. Sadly the weather prevented Florian and a couple of the other shooters making it over (I had to leave my car in the snow on the way back this morning!) but we had a great time regardless! Thanks to Wayne, Dan and Dave who have had fantastic seasons, Florian who won the German championships this year, Lou who made the GB team for Compak, and Muddy moving up another class.
Your hard work and support is massively appreciated, here’s to another big year for the crew! Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all 😊

    • Great weekends results across the board again this weekend but special congratulations to the German wing of team Solomons- Florian just won the overall German FITASC championship!
Not just won, but won by 6 clear targets- incredible! Massive congratulations, knew it was coming and thoroughly well deserved; a stepping stone to even bigger things.
Another great result in the same shoot was Sigrid Ambros getting bronze in ladies- always impressive but even more so when heavily pregnant 🙂

At the Krieghoff Masters there were several good class results but big shout to Lou Smith coming second in ladies even after getting belted in the face by a bit of clay- well done for not letting it rattle you too much when you were shooting well 👍

    • Slight delay in posting due to late return flight yesterday and straight into a full on week of coaching as of this morning but here goes..!
Another fantastic trip over to Germany to meet Florian for a little hunting and to shoot the XXL cup at Dornsberg again, which is always a hard course but very enjoyable and one of the finest grounds you will ever see.
Managed to win with Florian coming in 3rd behind Markus Leibinger so all in all a great result. As always Markus and Franz run a great event and put up some serious prize money, high gun was €2300! Hospitality was second to none and even had great weather.
So a Krieghoff and Hull heavy podium with the Pro Steel producing some fantastic kills on some pretty extreme birds.
This is in addition to some great performances from the team in the UK with Wayne, Dan and Dave all shooting good scores at the Jack Pyke Open at sporting targets- another very well run shoot with a good bit of atmosphere.
Looking forward to seeing a few friends over in Hungary soon and then entertaining some overseas guests for a couple of weeks :-)
Thanks as ever to Hull, Krieghoff, Ed Lyons and Laporte/CPC for the ongoing support- more details of a fantastic new sponsor to be revealed in the next few weeks!
Big thanks too to Florian for looking after me and making sure I don't get lost in Germany..!

I cannot praise the event enough, one of the most beautiful places to shoot I have ever seen, organisation was first class and the food we had at lunch yesterday was mind blowing!
I also had the pleasure of travelling with Hull cartridges, and catching up with Krieghoff whilst out there- two of my longest standing sponsors/supporters. As always, the company was great and I can genuinely proud to say I am on their team.
It just so happened that I shot ok which always makes things look better but I cannot recommend this event and venue enough.
Loved shooting with Cedric Bedet, Robert and some new friends from Belgium. Quick turn around, unpack and down to Southdown tomorrow for the classic with two of the team then coaching Monday-Wednesday before a late trip down South again for European FITASC champs, then straight from there to Portugal then back into coaching again!
Slight heads up am looking to book myself a month off as all the travelling/coaching every day is taking it out of me at my old age so thinking of September. A few slots left late July (about to be filled looking at emails!) then bookings are into August so if anyone is on the fence, you know what to do!

Incredible hospitality and the event itself ran flawlessly thanks to Rob Fenwick and the EJ Churchills team.
Hull team of myself, David Bontoft, Robert Everett and Rob Mountifield came 5th on the first day and the second day (Rob replaced by Ivan from Teague) we came 4th.
The Hulls Angels, all ladies team (Susan Bontoft, Patsy Bontoft, Alex Hammond and Victoria Knowles-lacks) came 16th out of 34 teams- brilliant result!
Thanks to all for a great few days with some amazing shooting, company and food. Well shot to all the winners and lots of money raised for charity!
Now back to the grind and off to Sporting Targets to start coaching again.
